Classes start at $100 and can be done in a hybrid-learning environment with the classroom portion performed online for smaller classes or in-person for larger classes. Private classes can be hosted at your preferred location for an additional fee (location dependent). Refer a friend or bring a family member for a discount!

What does the HQL permit me to do?
The HQL permits residents to legally purchase a handgun in Maryland.
Do I need an HQL to own a handgun in Maryland?
If you own a handgun purchased before October 1st, 2013, you do not need an HQL to own that specific handgun. However, if you wish purchase one after that date, regardless of whether it is used or new, you are required to possess an HQL. This includes private transfers between two residents.
How long is the HQL class?
The classroom portion can be up to 4 hours and the in-person-only qualification test can take as long as 2 hours.
How does the hybrid learning option work?
Instructors would present the slideshow through the free voice chat application Discord. It has been shown that it has good audio quality, good video quality, fast, has no intrusive or malicious code, and is used by over 200 million users monthly.
Is it lawful for a medical cannabis patient or a personal user of cannabis to own or possess a firearm?
The Federal Gun Control Act, 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(3), prohibits any person who is an "unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance (as defined in section 102 of the Controlled Substances Act (21 U.S.C. 802))" from shipping, transporting, receiving or possessing firearms or ammunition. Marijuana is listed in the Controlled Substances Act as a Schedule I controlled substance, and there are no exceptions in Federal law for marijuana purportedly used for medicinal purposes, even if such use is sanctioned by State law.*
